HOW I LEARNED TOUCH TYPING IN 30 DAYS
January 3, 2021
Touch typing means typing using all ten fingers without looking at the keyboard. Let's go over two goals which I tried to achieve:
Earlier I was typing using two for three fingers which is called "hunt and peck" and this isn't right approach. So, I my average typing speed with hunt-and-peck was 18wpm and now I'm at 38.8wpm after 22hrs of total practice.
You can start using typing.com or typingclub.com once you know how to place your fingers which took around 30mins.
Once you know to place your fingers I recommend using keybr.com make sure to login, so you can track your typing. This site generates automated samples which are a lot good to type than samples like "jjjk".
At first this site start with limited letters and as you progress through more letters will unlock.
Here are some tips:
Once all the letters are unlocked and you can hit average typing speed of above 35wpm using 8-10 fingers you are good to go.
Try different websites likeThese are three sites I recommend but you can use sites like 10fastfingers.com
There are challenges like training pinky fingers was most
difficult part. This is how I learned touch typing.
My next goal would be to get a average speed above 65wpm by the
end of this month.
